I’m almost 2 months post op from my second surgery- successful j pouch reconnected. Anyhow, I got married a week before my second surgery, and we hope to start trying to get pregnant next spring/Summer.

We’ve been intimate once after the first surgery and tried again today now that the second surgery is behind us. This most recent time was very painful. It felt like razor blades bc it was so tight. I had to stop even before he could completely enter me bc it was so painful. I’m not sure why. I’ve always been really tight, but this is ridiculous.

I wonder if it’s a good idea to see a GYN to a) discuss the pain and b) see when we might be able to start trying.

Also, from reading previous posts, many of you suggest they check to see if there is scar tissue. How do they do that? Ultra sound or something? When the doc didn’t my takedown surgery, she said it took longer than planned bc I had so much scar tissue surrounding the ostomy site. Does that mean I’ll probably be more apt to have scar tissue inside too?

I appreciate any and all replies.

I definitely would call your GYN doc. Most of the pain women might feel has to do with general tenderness in the area, not vaginal tightness. Plenty of time has passed for the surgical swelling in the area to have resolved. I don’t know what is going on in your case, but it does not seem normal. I resumed relations less than a month post op, and I had a 1-step procedure. I was far from a newlywed though, and post childbearing too.

Bubba,

First off, it is way too soon to judge what things are going to feel like a few months down the road...you are still swollen, inflamed and way too close to surgery to consider this permanent.

Next, things take time.  It means that you have been somewhat rerouted in there and it takes time for things to settle down, find their space. That means that you are going to have all sorts of different sensation but none are forcibly permanent. Some, maybe...but not all.

Finally, there are lots of different aspects that can contribute to tightness, the number one being hydration. If you are dehydrated then you may feel both resistance and tightness, next...lube...lots of it...it helps a lot...then and this is the biggie...relaxation, fun, pleasure...this is not supposed to be hard work but joyful and full of fun...if you are too worried about pain, tightness, not getting pregnant or other things then you will not have joy and fun...so, before the rest, learn to feel, touch and relax before you try to go any further. (just some friendly advice)

Sharon

ps...happy new year
