Hi Fellow Ostomates!

A wonderful friend of mine has opened up an Etsy shop dedicated to handmade ostomy covers. She lives in Mississauga, Ontario and will ship worldwide.

Normally I don't advertise products, but her covers have very much improved my self-image and I actually cried when I first slipped one on - funny how something so simple could make such an impact - I felt "normal" and "pretty" at a time when I had hit a bit of a rough patch mentally.

PoucherinTo, I was just thinking about pouch covers. I've tried both the see through and the non see through ostomy bags. I like the privacy of the latter but I also would like to see what's going on from the outside. A pouch cover solves the problem. Your friend's covers are really nice. I will definitely look into this!

Hi Lambiepie

They are really cute, she is a sewing guru and has taken into account that the bag expands as it fills up, so she has allowed the material to accommodate for this. There are times I don't want to tuck my bag into my underwear and I hate feeling it against my skin in the summer, so this has helped a lot.

I hope you are well!

Hi Lambiepie,

I wear the maxi coloplast pouch and it fits perfectly, she actually used a maxi pouch of mine to make the pattern and I gave her a couple of hollister and convatec bags that I do not use and the covers fit all of them. There is one shorter cover she makes (fits the coloplast midi bag) and she specifies that it is for the midi bag. But, she will make a cover to fit any sized bag.

Which bag do you wear and I will ask Magda on your behalf.

I just started using the Marlen deep convex pouch due to major leakage I was having. It's the same shape as a Hollister bag. I really like her Velcro closure - easy emptying. Also, does she recommend any particular cover to mask the crinkling of the ostomy bag? I usually don't care so much about this issue but I was really loud in yoga class last night (not to mention Spewy, my stoma, was sounding off .) Thank you for asking her.

If it is the same shape of the hollister bag you should be fine. My coloplast maxi bag is 12" in total length, it hangs about 10" from the bottom of my wafer - does that make sense?

If you find your bag does happen to hang down a bit past the end of the cover just roll the end of your bag up and tuck it in.

I have some lace ones and some of the cotton ones, the cotton ones definitely help with the crinkling noise but the lace ones are nice too b/c they make me feel pretty!
