my name is Steve back in 1981 I was diagnosed with UC  was on different meds for 11 years the condition would come and go but every time it came back it would be harder to deal with it I saw my  gasterentologist  finally  had to have a j pouch put in I have had my pouch for24 years also have had bouts with pouchitis  flagyl took many times my stomach could not take this medicine  its been hard deeling with this I am trying to get on disability now I were protective  under garments it is a pain were you sit was wodering if there are others that are in my position wait to hear from you steve.

Have had my Jpouch since 1993 and have had issues every year with pouchitis but, ciproflaxin seems to keep it in check with no side effects for me. My main issue is having to dialate on a daily basis as the scar tissue over the years keeps closing down the opening. Scoping doesn't have a lasting effect either. I should mention that i am 69 yrs. old and still very active. I have my down days but, you have to keep fighting . These forums help and you see you're not in this situation by yourself...
