C Diff in 2013

I have been all good since late 2013; however, one week ago ... I started with increased number of bowel movements.  Thought that it was from some spicy food or raw oysters that I had eaten.  The past two nights I have been up a min. of 20 times going to the bathroom and that is no exaggeration.  No bleeding; however, a real tender bottom as a result.  I started taking Florastor (6 - 250 mg) yesterday and will continue the same today as well as only eating super bland foods ... boiled noodles, baked sweet potatoes, bread.  There is definitely something going on ... I have an urgency to go and can hardly make it to the bathroom.  Lots of gas at night too.  Some chills and major night sweats two nights ago.  Does anyone suggestions for me?  I would really appreciate it!

TCLAR, a stool specimen is how C diff is diagnosed, but you’d need a doctor to order it. A stool specimen wouldn’t help diagnose other (more common) kinds of pouchitis. In addition to (or instead of) a C diff test, a course of Flagyl or Cipro might fix you up inexpensively and answer the question.

I’m not sure why you believe the Affordable Care Act is responsible for your not having health insurance. It’s the only reason I *can* have health insurance.

Thank you Jan!  I have been taking Florastor ... 2 when I  wake up, 1 on the hour and 2 when I go to bed as well as taking some throughout the night.  As well as changed my diet.  Each day is getting better!  The past three nights have been so much better.  Last night I was only up 4 times ... much better than the initial nights.  It seems like the nights are when things go crazy.  I am hearing that VSL#3 will knock it out as well.  Going to give that a try to rid it out completely.

Just do not like the antibiotic thing ... hoping for a little more natural remedy.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

Working on getting some insurance in the meantime.

Thank you again!
