J-pouch has been formed and I’ve found my loop ileostomy :)

I found it was painless.  A little uncomfortable but for me it was no big deal.

Thank you! I’ve never had a problem with pain, but by god I dislike any touching of my rear end haha 

The hospital staff was excellent.  It's a teaching hospital where I go, so there were a few people there.  Also, the tube they started with was too big so they had to get a smaller one.  They were good about making sure I was covered as well as possible and the radiologist was super!  He showed us the results on a screen and explained what they were looking for.  Also commented on what an excellent job my surgeon did with the rectal cuff.  

CONNLABOI..... Like yourself I was apprehensive of this procedure for very same reasons, I too explained my apprehension to the Radiologist who was very understanding and helpful but after the 10 to 15 minute procedure, which consisted mainly of laying on a X Ray table and waiting for results, I realised my apprehension was unfounded.

The tube used to insert the dye is so thin, it wasn't even noticeable during its insertion or through out the procedure.

My J Pouch surgery and this procedure was performed on the NHS, so I woukd assume the entite procedure will be identical to what's performed in Northern Ireland.

I'd suggest you still inform the Radiologist and Nurses of your apprehension; in my case, doing so made all the difference, I was reassured throughoutand each step was explained; I was even shown and able to feel the tube used beforehand.

That’s brilliant! I will let them know the reason for my caution but that has really helped me. My surgeon did say that the tube is very thin. He said if I do experience pain then there is something wrong so I’ve just been overthinking it maybe! Haha thank you
