hello all haven’t been here in awhile. I’ve been doing great bowel wise, no doible digits.. I use cottonelle baby wipes as it works best and is hypoallergenic. I’ve tried aveeno excema cream and aveeno baby moisuring wash for when I bath. My bottom is literally covered in bumps that may itch at times I try not to itch but sometimes can’t help it.. my family dr also prescribed me triacyclime steroid cream and it helps some but the steroids dry my inner thighs. My best solution as of now is the Boudreaux’s extra strength butt paste, the weaker one isn’t a Help. I also have cetaphil excema cream which is expensive and. A pretty good brand since it has no drugs in it mainly minerals maybe oatmeal idk. I get horrible but burn with blood on my cottonelle whiles. I take numerous hoses and bathe with the numerous exceeds creams!!! I don’t even wanna eat because I know what comes next . My dr said I could get refreshed to dermatologist it’s just so embarrassing and gross all the numbs and cuts ... SO has ANYONE found another paste that DOES NOT have steroid cream. I’m desperate and any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m going to CVS tonight . This is a struggle but god will prevail so fellow j pouchers can you help me out. I’ve also tried meta musil, bananas the whole shebang so pleaselmk what butt paste is your go too that is healthy 🤗 I also have freezing moment from my cramps but I take dicyclomine but as we all know it doesn’t work for everyone just a tip. Please respond with urgency!!!

Well if I use toilet paper it irritates my bits and may cause cuts with light blood spots I’ve tried numerous wipes and use they hypergenic ones and learned to wash my bottom with this aveeno excema cream and use the bouradeuxcas I said earlier which works wonders if no one has tried I use the extra strength , I usually take like warm baths that helps when I’m in hell from butt burn lol. I’ve tried ilex, calmoseptine,  basically every paste that’s a good brand . I found the bouradeux bc my baby niece uses it so I gave it a try hahahaha but my inner thighs are literally red with bumps I just bought aveeno excema moisurings cream yesterday bc the area gets so dry it’s hard to walk and it has spread higher up my thigh as time goes on I’m just nervous it gets all on my legs.. the steroid cream works but the steroid drugs it out so it’s decent just drys the skin. It’s sucks. People really have NO idea of all the issues us UC and Chrons survivors go threw daily. Myself for example was diagnosed with UC at 13.. literally tried every medicine available even suppositories... and I always had pancreatitis once or twice a year bc of it and before I get removed I had a colonoscopy and the polyps scabbed I bled for days ... end of story is that was my breaking point when I knew I couldn’t do it anymore.. EVERYONE eventually hits there breaking point and that’s why we are all on here.. if nothing works I’ll see a dermatologist .. I still see my UC doctor for gastro issues and he hasn’t even bothered to look at my bottom or inner thighs as embersssing as it is. .. our body’s will never be perfect but end of March it will be a year since my last of 3 surgeries for my j pouch. I never leak anymore unless I eat before bed.. I have 1-2 BM a day.. and take diclyomine (spelling may be off) for cramps for Ibs and it works wonders if anyone gets the horrible cramps where u literally can’t move for 10 seconds or longer it has cured that .. sorry for the essay, haha just trying to add additional info for new users who may be reading this thread because when I had the surgery’s idk what I would have done without this j pouch website. Everyone is different and it is a learning process. For me my last thing to learn is the excema .... happy health to all. I know it sucks in the beginning especially the listing bag for me .. but once it was off and my body adjusted I don’t regret it one bit (besides the excem) STRONG WILL LEADS to POSITIVE results . My motto was “take it a day at a time” and here I am 10-11 months later with minor issues.. Happy health to all!! And pain management was a great thing also, helped me do physical things once surgeries healed along with shots in back and pain meds until I got off and switched to subutex, which is a great option for those like me who became physically dependent , NOT ADDICTED to the drug. I wouldn’t need the meds but if I didn’t have them I’d be in withdrawal.. which is why the subutex works wonders. I tapered to a quarter a pill a day and it’s considered a opiate but you cannot Abuse the medication . Suboxone is similar except it has a nasty blocker (naloxone) usually given to addicts like heroin. Regardless group therapy and subutex helped me get my life back on track. Just another tip of a tone who has or is suffering from opiate decency for taking them daily for 10 plus months. It’s a HARD journey but nothing in life is. Everything eventually passes, hopefully my excema does soon lol 😀

Yes, get the dermatology consult. There are different steroid ointments for different areas. I have severe eczema that is widespread and it waxes and wanes. But the key for me is moisturizing immediately after showering. When it is bad, everything irritates my rash, so the best thing is Vaseline on a warm, moist washcloth. Creamy Desitin is good too.

Hi KC,

I don't have the same problem but my hubby and his family are all afflicted. He spent a lot of time, money and effort using all of the various meds that the dermato prescribed him...then I accidentally found 2 products that work wonders. My sister-in-law was hospitalized and I was the only one that she would allow to wash her. When I saw here back, I screamed. Huge red, rough, oval-shaped plaques all over. I don't know how she managed to sleep. Hubby gets the same ones.

I had just bought carrot oil from a health food store to use on my stoma/valve catheter instead of lube and took it to the hosptial...it is full of vitamin A...

I massaged it in after a nice warm shower. The next time I went back they were less red, less angry. By week 3 they were smaller, less visible and no longer itched her.

I started using it on hubby...to date (over 5 yrs) they haven't come back.

I've given the trick to the whole family and it seems to work for them. Something about the Lubrification and the vitamin A seems to help.

It is cheap (I pay about $3 a bottle)...it is not 100% pure oil but mixed with others...you can also try avocado oil or Vitamin E oil...all from health food stores.

2 things to help. Anhydrous Lanolin is the best for any rashes. Next put a little water on your tp before you wipe. These will work! Good luck

I don’t use tp I’ve tried the water method I’ve foundhypoallergenic cottonelle baby wipes to work and clean better without leaving tissue lol

KC23, do you use a plastic bidet bottle to spray warm water over the bum area and use toilet paper to pat dry?  Then apply a plain baby diaper rash cream. This is going back to the bare basics. Sometimes your skin just needs a rest from trying so many different, strong creams. When I had bad burning after my reversal, I tried many creams and found that plain old Zincofax for babies' bums worked best because it is gentle, no menthol, not as thick and sticky as Vaseline. If it heals a baby's screaming bum pain, it could work for adults. Good luck.

KC23, did a doctor diagnose you with eczema?  Have you considered a fungal infection?  I have used clotrimazole cream (often used for athletes foot or jock itch) and it helped.  You can find it anywhere in a generic form and you don't need a prescription.  Otherwise, if it is eczema (which I also have, but not in that area), then you should be getting a prescription cream or ointment for it (desonide is the one I use with success).
