So based on photos I sent my surgeon, I have a hernia. I know, I will go to the doctor, have the CT scan and all that but c,mon... do I really need another surgery to fox it?

What ACTUALLY is the issue/problem other than a mild amount of discomfort/ distension (not all the time)? Can it have any effect in any way on functionality or my health?

Is it from working out too much?

Truthfully I am just trying everything in my power not to have more doctor's appts, tests, and perhaps surgery.

Is this surgery serious? Hard recovery or nothing compared to what we have been through?

THANKS TEAM!

I had a hernia under the surgical incision. My surgeon could tell by feeling my abdomen and I didn't need to have a CTscan.  I had mine removed as it was the source of pain.

Have you tried wearing an abdominal hernia belt while exercising?  That might help to keep it from getting larger.  Surgery depends on many factors such as it's location and the probability of it getting larger.

I seem to have collected them for a few years...About 6 or 7 at last count...sometimes more than one at a time.

Some caused serious pouch-related problems (like my pouch twisting and getting stuck in the hernia (called strangulation) and requiring emergency surgery (not fun).

Some were less of a problem than others but still not something that I would just ignore.

Most of mine were repaired through laparoscopic surgery which only required 2 nights in the hospital for security sake (they keep pouchers a couple extra days, if not, it can be ambulatory here).

The surgeon can tell you if it is important and requires attention or just a 'wait and see' attitude.
