I have that. Plantar whatever. It's painful. But it's not a morning evening thing. It's there all the time.  If I step hard on either foot I pay for it for days. So I have to be careful not to injure when I step.  I don't think it's autoimmune related. But if you have it you will definitely know it. It's something that will not go away.

Hi, Richard.

I had this once in my life, decades ago, and it was enough to make me wince just typing the words plantar fasciitis! Standing up in the morning was extreme pain that continued through the entire day. I didn't walk, I limped. I sought help in all ways, laser therapy, reflexology, foot massage, physiotherapy, expensive, and everything out of pocket.  One thing worked for me and I've never experienced plantar fasciitis again. I invested in a pair of good solid Birkenstock sandals to wear in the house, like slippers. And later on a pair of Mephisto. I also bought two pairs of proper solid inserts for all my existing shoes to switch in and out when needed.  I've never had another episode of PF.  This was more than 25 years ago. I never wear flat shoes. All my shoes have to have a bit of heel because flat sole shoes cause the band of elastic tissue in the soles of your feet to stretch too much. And I always have an orthotic insert (not the cheap spongy ones; the solid kind) in every shoe I wear that day. Try Birkenstock for around the house. I chose  the Birks with the slightly softer footbed that feels more cushy when breaking in. One pair will last for years and years. I've never spent another dime on physio or expensive treatments.

My plantar fasciitis comes and goes.  I already wear custom orthotics 95% of the time out of the house but an incident with a very small heel (without orthotics) sent me back to square one.  Being barefoot, especially on a solid surface, is your worst enemy.  At home, I wear a pair of Crocs with significant arch support without the orthotics and it's the most comfortable shoe I own (and I've tried many).  Just too ugly to wear out of the house!

I have it especially in the summer if I walk barefoot in my apartment that has tile floors.

After the 1st summer that it happened, I tried something new...I used the TENS machine on it at my Phystiotherapist's...I did about 6 sessions...they put the pads on the souls of my feet, first testing it on the right foot...it worked wonders.

I had him do both feet and it more or less disappeared.

It is back again after about 4 yrs and this time I have bought the machine and am about to try it on my feet again...I'll let you know if it works.

Sharon
