Hi Everyone,

It has been year since I wrote on this site. I need your help. I had a bad cold and the doctor gave me antibiotics. After 1 day of taking the meds, I have had horrible back and abdomen pain. My stool is long and pencil thin. I also feel exhausted and sometimes feel like I'm hot. The cold is gone but the pain has continued for days. I take no drugs for my colitis and have not seen my GI for two years. Pain in back so bad I can't tie my shoes. Pain right now in lower left abdomen. It moves around. I feel better as long as I do not eat. Any help?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi, Joe. During a recent checkup with my GP, I was told to keep an eye on my kidney function and if I have pain in my back (left side) that moves around to the left-front, I should call because it could be bladder related as a result of some minor meds I am taking (not j pouch related). Pencil-thin stools could be a stricture?  Sometimes antibiotics can cause constipation. Maybe time to check in with your doctor?
