ive come off my cipro due to extreme constipation even after prune juice. the only difference it made was it gave me raw burning diarrhea in between hours of straining with the constipation and inflammation. anyways that also caused me to stop the hc suppositories because i simply can no longer get them in due to old and now new hemorrhoids from all the straining and of course all the inflammation. i now feel like i have the flu without the nausea or head part of it. just the body aches and weakness and cant get out of bed except for my loose then hard bms. i wasnt great before the cipro but 1000 times better than i am now.if anyone knows please tell me what is going on with me because im at the end of fighting or even caring at this point.

one thing i just thought about to add is my exhaustion began the night i started culturelle probiotics. should i stop taking it or could it be a good reaction in a miserable disguise?

wiggles,

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. I'm wondering if maybe you don't have a virus on top of everything else. There is a LOT going around right now. I'm fighting a pretty nasty cold myself and I spent most of New Year's Eve on the couch under a blanket (Best. New Year's Eve. EVER. *LOL*). It would also explain the exhaustion. It's unlikely the probiotics caused you to feel that tired. They also take several weeks to kick in. I wouldn't give up on them just yet.

In the meantime, you have a call in to your doctor to discuss this? Pouchitis will only fester if left untreated. There are other antibiotics used to treat pouchitis which you should try, and that may not cause the unpleasant side effects.

Keep us posted!
Probiotics seem to be pretty useful to many of us both during and after antibiotic therapy. Nevertheless, it's possible for a person to have a bad reaction to just about anything, even something as mils as a probiotic. Since your symptoms started when you began the Culturelle, it's probably worth seeing if stopping it helps. You can always restart later, if stopping made no difference, or just to rule out coincidence. Good luck!
