I went to my gastro for my first appt since the takedown surgery. He said all my symptoms might be explained by pouchitis- joint pain (which I thought was arthritis related to my colitis), going 10-15x a day (which he said is still a lot this far out from my surgery, despite taking lomotil), and the severe anal itching I’ve been experiencing.

He wants me to have a pouchoscopy. I’m surprised, but relieved that he said he wanted to put me under just like when I had a colonoscopy. I’m fine with that! I’ve heard they can be painful. So I’m having that done, but unfortunately I have to wait until mid May to get it done.

He also said he wants to do some bloodwork for vitamin deficiency, which is common for people without colons. I also have a history of having low iron, B12 and vitamin D. He also wants me to have a bone density test bc I was on pred so long and have a history of low vitamin D.

Anyhow, it’s good to know the joint pain and itching may get better.
