Do I seek more help or not? losing control of pouch

This sounds like pouchitis to me. It's generally very easy to treat with 10-14 days of Cipro or Flagyl. If that diagnosis is correct then relief tends to come surprisingly quickly, within a couple of days. The use of codeine under these circumstances suggests a GP who has no idea what pouchitis is. There's an article posted at the top of the "Pouchitis" Forum on this site that might be worth printing out for your GP, if you'll be depending on him for care in the future.

Yes, this definitely sounds like pouchitis to me as well. 

I have been back to the GP they have taken bloods to check for inflamitory markers and then going to take it from there but they have said it might just be gastro entoritus , but i have never responded like this before.

Rhianne, I don't think there is any blood test that can reliably diagnose pouchiitis. The easiest path is a course of Cipro, IMO.

I would call your GI or get a referral ASAP from your primary. Blood tests will likely show nothing even if you have pouchitis. Waiting does nothing other than let symptoms get worse. Most of us have been there, done that.

I agree it sounds like Pouchitis. but i am very curious why are you seeing your GP? do you no longer have a GI that follows you?
