Hello. I have J pouch for 4 months. For 4 days I have watery diarrhea, nothing hurts, I have no cramps. Only that diarrhea and more times I have to go to the toilet. This was not the same as it happened a month ago, it lasted for 3 days. Now I just eat rice and yogurt. What are your experiences? What could this be? Thank you.

This could just be an ordinary GI infection or food poisoning. If it doesn't clear up on its own it could be more things (like C. diff, for example). Stay hydrated! Good luck!
Thank you, I drink water, a little tea. Maybe I take active coal. I do not plan to go to the doctor because these symptoms were three times this year, and it just passed. This time lasts longer and the air temperature is close to 40 ° these days.
Has anyone had pouchitis without any other symptoms?
Just water diarrhea and a little more urge for the toilet.
Thank you.
Enterin, urgency can definitely be a sign of pouchitis. If it's just started then it might just be a bout of gastroenteritis, but if it's ongoing then I'd suspect pouchitis.
I have no other symptoms. Only 5 days of diarrhea and waking up once in the night. When I'm okay, I'm sleeping normally.
I have normal temperature and normal appetite. I drink probiotics today.
I ask you because I am new, and I would like to know your experience
Five days is still short enough that it might be an "ordinary" passing thing. If it persists much longer then a stool test for C. Diff would probably be appropriate, followed (perhaps) by a course of Cipro or Flagyl. Some doctors would want to do a pouchoscopy, too.
Pouchitis commonly has no effect on temperature or appetite. Stay hydrated!
I see. I would not want to drink cipro without a rectal examination.
The problem is that the symptoms are similar to many different situations.
Cipro will cure the infection well?
Pouchitis isn't a typical infection - it's an irritation of the pouch that some J-pouchers get. Cipro does generally clear it up in 10-14 days. It's best if your doctor is convinced of the diagnosis first, though, either based on symptoms or a visual inspection through pouchoscopy.
Although I do not know if it is diarrhea from pouchitis, the doctor of general practice has given me Cyprus.
I drank the first tablet.
I did not want to go to examinations because it would only exhaust me and other symptoms I do not have.
The doctor says maybe it's a viroze, maybe some food poisoning al usually took cipro.
Btw. At me now is the summer and the air temperature is up to 40 ° and many people have various viroze.
If it's pouchitis then you could have improvement very quickly with Cipro. Good luck!
Thank you !
I drank 3 Cipro antibiotics and stopped the therapy because after the second it was already good (normal). I immediately started eating all normal and drinking two beers. Now I have diarrhea again (weaker this time) no matter what the cause. Probably I should drink 2 x 1 tablets a day for 5 days. It is my fault that it takes about 5 days, but I'm a bit stubborn
A proper course of Cipro is 10-14 days. A shorter course is more likely to end badly than well. Too short a course of antibiotics is one contributor to antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Bacteria are more stubborn than you are.
I thought that only when using bacteria in excessive use of antibiotics became more resistant, but I see that it should be kept in mind for a short period of time.
The "excessive use" of antibiotics that causes concern is using them when there's no true need. Using them long enough to deal with the problem isn't excessive at all.
You're right. I would certainly like to know more about it. I stopped taking because I thought it was not necessary.
An antibiotic's job isn't done when the symptoms clear up. It has to be taken long enough to usually prevent the problem from coming back.
I understand, thank you. I continued to drink the therapy, I will consult with a general practitioner for as long as possible.
