As a result of a twisted bowel it is now suggested I may have chrohns disease as opposed to the operation 5 years ago to create a jpouch for ulcerative colitis. I have always had 12 or more bowel movements despite the use of morphine sulphate and loperdermide.  before I had the jpouch they tried remicade for 9 months. Would that not of eliminated the probability?

I'd be interested to know how Crohn's can cause twisted bowel? I genuinely don't know if it can or can't.  I would have thought Crohn's was inflammatory condition but twisted bowel sounds More physical, so not sure how the 2 relate out how they came to that conclusion?

As for the remicade, is an indication, however sometimes drugs don't work for people, and sometimes people develop new symptoms.

They can test for Crohn's markers though, again I don't think it's 100% but may be worth doing.

Crohn's is known for causing strictures in the bowel. This can lead to twisting. It is not a definite confirmation of Crohn's, just a leaning that direction, like fistulas. Prior gut surgery can also cause this twisting.

Using Remicade would not negate the possibility of a Crohn's diagnosis and it is not all that uncommon for the diagnosis to change or evolve post op, even decades later.
