Once the affected area is clean and patted dry, I suggest you apply ilex paste liberally for a few days; yes it'll be a sticky and gloopy mess for a few days but the paste will protect the cut from being exposed to bile acid during BMs.

Whilst the ilex paste is applied, use wet wipes to cleanse after BMs

I forget to mention, I had fabulous results from using ilex paste.

Initially whilist I had a leaking loop ileostomy; I tried every cream and concoction available to treat the broken, weeping, ooziing and festering skin around my Stoma.

I was in agony, believing I'd made a huge mistake; that is, until the ilex paste was suggested, ordered and applied.

I actually managed to get a few sachets from my Stoma Nurse and also a few sample sachets from ilex before my order arrived.

It was an absolute life saver, within 3 days of applying the ilex paste the skin around my Stoma had completely healed.

I continued to apply ilex around my Stoma as a precaution.

Since takedown, I've use ilex to treat butt burn, fissures and internal itching, applied slightly to the inside of the sphincter

Yes, most definately and why not ?

It worked for me.

If it can be applied to broken weeping and oozing skin around a Stoma and applied to the most severe form of butt burn, what harm can it do internally?.

Applying it slightly internally can also help with night time leakage, it kinda seals it shut

My Pouch Nurse at St Marks also suggested I apply it slightly to the inside of the sphincter.

As for fissures, I guess it all depend as to how deep internally the fissure are or is; in my case, it's reoccurring, same location and just to the inside.

By the application of ilex paste, it's relieved instantly and is no longer a hindrance or a discomfort by the next day; until it reoccurs some weeks or months later.

However, last time I looked; it states on the ilex paste tube: "FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY"

I am struggling with this BIG TIME! I'm coming up on 3 months since my take down and nothing is helping. Im down to try that ilex paste that you all suggested.

Going to the bathroom has me in tears sometimes and I am not feeling super positive about it. My doctor prescribed me some hydrocortisone suppositories that aren't in yet so those might help. some days are better than others but pretty much for the past month its been relentless and I am bleeding a little mostly just when I wipe.

I haven't tried Ilex, but I do use Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Goopy, but effective. I wipe with saline soaked toilet paper or gauze. The saline and gauze are left over from hospital. Don't know what I'll do when they run out! My Mom always used Tuck's wipes for her hemorrhoids which are just basically witch hazel... Gotta be careful when purchasing witch hazel wipes... Dickinson's brand set me on fire!

One of my strongest and lasting memories from the whole ordeal of multiple surgeries back in 2001 was the discomfort of anal fissures after takedown.  I was terrified of eating, knowing I was gonna have to crap soon therafter... I really feel for anybody that is going through that. The ONLY relief I ever found (other than time healing the wound), was to sit in a tub of the hottest water my arse could tolerate, immediately following sitting on the toilet.  I would do this until the spasms and pain subsided.
