I went off my Cipro after using it a year. And I finally feel a lot better. But now I am having this throbbing and pain right inside my anal area. Does anyone have any ideas? I remember having it right after my first surgery when my surgeon made my jpouch and had to stretch my small intestines. But now I don't get it. Is there a chance that it is pouchitis? I sure hope not. I am finally feeling better being off Cipro. I am not having any issues pooping. It is soft to runny. The only thing I have changed is the Cipro. Any ideas? It doesn't burn either. Just throbs, enough that I need motrin. Any help or suggestions? PLEASE

Belladona and Opium is a supposotry you get from your GI or I suppose any of your doctors willingly can persribe it. I don't have a rectum or anus but I use it for my pouch to stop the spasms and valve pain. I prefer it over the pill since it doesn't mess with your body or make me loopy it goes straight to the source of the issue. I hear people on the site use it with good results. There are a few threads on the site, one is this

I also have throbbing pain occasionally and just asked my surgeon last week for ideas. Here was his response:
"This sounds like muscle spasm aka, levator spasm or proctalgia fugax. Cuffitis would be more of a constant pain or pain that is worse with bowel movement and might be associated with blood in the stool. Treating muscle spasm is difficult. Sometimes warm baths help. Muscle relaxants are sometimes used and physical therapy can be done."

I've been having anal throbbing and pressure with urgency as well for last couple days are not sure what it is it's very discomforting could be specifically one thing or Numerous problems going on cause me to go to the bathroom more often and could be something that I numerous problems going on causing me to go to the bathroom more often and going to be something that i have ate ?

It is also my current biggest issue right now...that pressure in the lower Pouch area sort of like throbbing sort of like spasm it causes me to have to tighten up or risk leakage/bowel accident.. and when I tighten up then my stomach gurgles sometimes audibly for people to hear 4 and 5 feet away... and then it continues and happens again 5 minutes later etc...

If you are fortunate enough to be at home when this happens I find what works is a warm bath laying on your back with your feet up it causes you to release a lot of gas....
