You guys are all focused on brands as opposed to what the operative ingredients and percentages are. Set aside the marketing BS and look at the actual content of what you are buying. All these barriers have zinc oxide as their operative ingredient. It depends on the % of ZO and the other ingredients as to whether it’s good on any specific ass. Desitin at 45% is the very thick ointment designed for a baby’s ass, and A&D at 13% the creamiest. Calmoseptine at 20% may be “just right” for my or your ass with a medium thickness. but it also has menthol in it. Which may provide a cooling sensation. Pay zero attention to the branding and all attention to what the ingredients are.

I've always been a Calmoseptine fan. The menthol is sooooo helpful......as long as you don't have fissures. That gave me a new kind of burn. Ugh. Learned that one for the first time after years of no issues. In this case, my GI prescribed lidocaine mixed with Rectacare. I also used just straight lidocaine for a few days. After a little while I was able to go back to my beloved Calmoseptine.

In my early days after takedown I used Zincofax, the brand used for babies' bums. It's extremely gentle but effective. It healed my burning skin within hours. Now I never need it (22 months after takedown).  A suggestion would be to buy the smallest size of whatever-cream so if it doesn't work you're not stuck with a huge tub or tube. Also call the companies that supplied your temporary ostomy equipment to ask if they can send you small sample sizes of cream to try. Call as many companies as you need, some will be happy to send samples, others might not. Good luck.

I had some badd butt burn  a couple of years ago, so bad I had to go to emerg. nothing else was working. The ER doc there gave me some Diltiazem 2% cream which is normally used for skin burns on the body ,and let me tell ya , IT WORKS GREAT!!! Very little is needed ,& it works fast.. still have my 100g bottle ,and its going on 2.5 years
